Do you want bread with that? Cornbread?

A Recipe for You. From Me.
 Bread Brings Us Together.
Pass the Bread Please.  The Cornbread.
We are together. We are family.

It’s Saturday!!  It’s trying so hard to be Spring. A little rain never hurt. A little sunshine always helps even in the most trying of situations. Especially in Minnesota where nearly the entire month of January was gray and cold. Now it is March and the birds are singing, the green is poking its head up and it stays lighter a lot longer.
Do not get me wrong. I love winter.  It does not mean I want to live in it for 12 months. I like season changes. I also love the sun and blue sky and not always being able to see my breathe 24 hours a day.  So there. I am human. Sort of. That is debatable.

So, while it is still trying to be a little winter with a cold chill in the air I thought why not make a nice, hearty chili. I can use up some of the cans in my pantry, meat in my freezer and any leftover vegetables in my crisper that need to be eaten. OH!  And why not use the cornmeal, flour, sugar and baking soda I have and make a golden, fluffy, moist skillet cornbread to go along with it. Now, I know most, if not all of you have all of the aforementioned items. How do I know this?  Well, for starters the shelves have been empty of these items for over a week now and even Trader Joe’s just started getting flour back in a few days ago. So, please, don’t try and argue. And don’t, please don’t go out and get any of the ingredients if you are planning to make it, but don’t have it. I will show you so many substitutes and kitchen hacks. We will make it work.

As I was getting ready to make the chili and cornbread, TW was setting up a live TV set in our dining room and kitchen.  For what you ask?  Well, I am going to do my first in-home Facebook live segment today!!!!! Yay!  I am so excited!
I wanted to begin with something easy using several pantry items. Something that can be brought to the table for any meal, even breakfast or a mid day snack. I wanted to incorporate a few fun kitchen hacks as well.

Tune into my Facebook live at 4pm (CST) for a live demo featuring a golden, moist, fluffy skillet cornbread.  Please join me in my kitchen. It will be the only guests I have in my home for a very long time. I need you.

With the “Shelter in Place” order we will need to find creative ways to be together with our loved ones. I thought this was a good start.
If you feel like you need to go out, but are a little anxious, which is completely understandable, please consider using a service like Instacart for your shopping needs. They are out there busting their buns to get you what you need so that you don’t have to. The “Shelter in Place” order is for everyone’s protection and our safety. The Instacart shoppers are there to help and it would be much better to have 1,000 shoppers out there shopping, driving and delivering than 5,000 of us roaming around trying to find toilet paper and hand sanitizer.  They need to make a living too and some of them are picking up this job because the job they once had is not capable of being remote or online. Let them help and please consider it.  If you are displaced by current work and need to pay bills and feed your family, consider becoming a shopper. Follow this link to sign up!  Then, follow up with me to let me know!

Miss you guys!  Thanks for reading and I hope to see all of you tomorrow 4:00 PM (CST).

I would love for you to subscribe to my YouTube channel also with fun recipes from around the world with Elizabeth and Steve from Twin Cities Live.
