Tidbits from Tijerina: Thirsty Thursday calls for the simplest of syrups!

Thirsty Thursday calls for the simplest of syrups!

A Recipe for You. From Me.

Wanderlust. The desire to travel.
Fancy drinks and dressing up.
We are together. We are family.

The phrase “Thirsty Thursday” used to mean something entirely different to me many years ago.
Do Thursdays still come and go?  Well…yes, but for the person that I am today, active in recovery, I look to different ways to make my drinks fun and tasty without the alcohol. That being said, you certainly can use these syrups for alcoholic cocktails also. Many mixologists do. Baristas too!

The Simplest of Syrups

I love sparkling water. Any type or brand or flavor. If I had to choose just one though it would be Gerolsteiner.
Little baby bubbles and a glass bottle. Quenches my thirst to the core. It is plain, not flavored, just minerals and bubbles.

This recipe is just the beginning of a rabbit hole that I went down several years ago. I use simple syrups for the holidays, for spring BBQ’s, for gifts and for me. I use them for iced tea, ice cream, coffee, cakes and cupcakes, pancakes and so much more!
Some of the flavors and combos I have made are ginger, ginger-lime, lavender-lemon, orange, cardamom-orange, raspberry-mint, basil, root beer, chocolate-mint, the list goes on and on and on. I went a little crazy with garnishes too. Eek!

What I love about simple syrup.  Take Iced tea  for example. Notice how your sugar crystals never quite dissolve all of the way? Some may like that little bit of crunch through a straw, but if you choose to go straw-less then the sugar just sits at the bottom and then what exactly is the point?
Use simple syrup and change your life forever!
Super change your life forever with flavored syrups for your iced tea!!!!
Rosemary, Cinnamon or Lavender strike your fancy?  You know you want to try it.  It is so simple, the kids can do it and they can use the syrup for pancakes, baked oatmeal, over their yogurt or ice cream and you can add it to your coffee or iced tea.

I am eager to hear about your simple syrup adventures.  Please post a comment on the recipe link on my website and let me know how it goes. I am always excited to hear about new flavor combinations!  Yay!

Ok, after eating a stack of pancakes with raspberry simple syrup and drinking a coffee with cinnamon simple syrup I need a nap. Or a walk on the treadmill.  Have your exercise regimens increased or decreased during the past few weeks?  If you are looking for a free yoga class, my good friend Melissa has a YouTube Channel link below. Feel free to hop on and stretch a little. Do it in the backyard on your yoga mat or a towel to feel the fresh air.
