{"id":851,"date":"2019-09-06T17:25:59","date_gmt":"2019-09-06T22:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jessicatijerina.com\/?p=851"},"modified":"2019-09-09T11:15:10","modified_gmt":"2019-09-09T16:15:10","slug":"fall-fig-bread-with-cardamom-glaze","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jessicatijerina.com\/index.php\/2019\/09\/06\/fall-fig-bread-with-cardamom-glaze\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall Fig Bread with Cardamom Glaze"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Fall Fig Bread with Cardamom Glaze<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><em>*As seen on Twin Cities Live &#8211; September 9th, 2019*<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Yield:\u00a0<\/strong> 1 Loaf<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><br \/>\n10 ripe figs (makes roughly 1 cup puree)<br \/>\n\u00bd cup honey<br \/>\n\u00bc cup butter, softened<br \/>\n2 eggs<br \/>\n\u00bc cup brown sugar<br \/>\n1 cup all-purpose flour<br \/>\n1 cup whole wheat flour<br \/>\n2 teaspoons baking powder<br \/>\n1 teaspoon cinnamon<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon ginger<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon cloves<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon baking soda<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon salt<\/p>\n<p><strong>Glaze<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1\/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp ground cardamom<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp vanilla paste<br \/>\nMilk or heavy cream for thinning (see #10)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 350 degrees.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare a 9&#215;5 loaf pan with non-stick spray or butter.<\/li>\n<li>Puree Figs: cut the stems off, chop in half, and toss them in a food processor.\u00a0 They should be a bit gummy and thick with small bits of skin visible.\u00a0 Set aside.<\/li>\n<li>In a mixing bowl, cream together honey and butter.<\/li>\n<li>Add fig puree, eggs, and brown sugar.\u00a0 Mix until well combined.<\/li>\n<li>In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, baking soda and salt.<\/li>\n<li>Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, in several batches, mixing until just combined.<\/li>\n<li>Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown, and a knife inserted comes out clean.<\/li>\n<li>Combine glaze ingredients and 1 tablespoon milk\/cream and stir until well combined.
