{"id":727,"date":"2019-05-14T15:25:33","date_gmt":"2019-05-14T20:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jessicatijerina.com\/?p=727"},"modified":"2019-06-05T10:34:42","modified_gmt":"2019-06-05T15:34:42","slug":"chapati","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jessicatijerina.com\/index.php\/2019\/05\/14\/chapati\/","title":{"rendered":"Chapati"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yield: 16 Chapati<\/p>\n<p><u>Ingredients<\/u><br \/>\n2 cups chapatti flour + extra for dusting (or whole wheat flour)<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon sugar<br \/>\n2 tablespoons oil<br \/>\n1+ cup lukewarm water<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Method<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mix flour, salt and sugar together in a large bowl. Add oil and work mixture with your fingertips.<\/li>\n<li>Slowly add the water, while continuing to mix.<\/li>\n<li>Once all is combined, roll out onto the counter and knead for about 5 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Once all the excess moisture is absorbed, the dough is ready.<\/li>\n<li>Wrap dough in plastic wrap and let rest for up to 30 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Divide the dough in half and then cut each half into 4 equal size pieces.<\/li>\n<li>Form each piece into a ball and flatten into a round cake shape.<\/li>\n<li>Dust with flour and roll out to a 6-inch circle. Keep cakes covered while you are working on the next.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat a heavy bottom cast iron grill pan or skillet over medium high heat.<\/li>\n<li>Cook each chapatti for 30 seconds and then turn with a thin spatula and cook until bubbles begin to appear on the surface.<\/li>\n<li>Turn over once more and press the edges down so that they want to puff up again. (does not always puff up)<\/li>\n<li>Cook until brown patches appear on the underside.
